Lerici and San Terenzo
The true Gulf of Poets
Located in one of the most beautiful coves of the Ligurian Riviera of Levante, Lerici offers a perfect blend of past and present: rich in historical and artistic heritage and religious traditions, the town does not betray its fame as a well-equipped and modern beach resort. The area, a destination for poets and artists of great fame, is known as “The Gulf of Poets”, and with this name, Lerici is recognized worldwide. There is no need for a car. Easily reachable by bus or on foot.
Portovenere
A small Wonder
Portovenere offers a unique landscape with its steep cliffs plunging into the sea, the caves and coves surrounding it, and the vegetation that gives the environment different shades in every season. The crystal-clear sea perfectly frames the small and picturesque village of Portovenere, sometimes calm and transparent enough to reflect the sun’s rays along with the multicolored rocks overlooking the sea of the Gulf of Poets, sometimes angry when it crashes against the rock beneath the Church of San Pietro.
From Lerici, boats depart to Portovenere and the 5 Terre.
The Five Lands
Unesco Heritage
The landscape of the 5 Lands is characterized by dry stone walls, terraced vineyards that produce unique wines just like the place they come from. The Five Lands are part of the Unesco World Heritage list and are a National Park and a Marine Protected Area. Starting from La Spezia, the villages to visit in the 5 Lands are Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso, with their cliffs plunging into the sea, characteristic houses, villages, and sanctuaries, panoramic trails linking the villages and reaching inland.
They can be reached by boats from Lerici or by train from La Spezia station.
